Gwenola Wagon is an artist and researcher.
She is a University Professor and teaches at the Sorbonne School of Arts at Paris 1 University. Through installations, films, performances and books, she imagines alternative and paradoxical narratives for thinking about the contemporary digital world.
She surveys the virtual globe with her first films, Globodrome and Blackpool-Manchester, and investigates the space of hyperinformation and Internet infrastructures in collaboration with artist Stéphane Degoutin, with whom she has co-produced numerous pieces, including Cyborgs in the Mist, World Brain, The House That Wishes You Well, the installation Cat Loves Pig, and the book Psychoanalysis of the International Airport.

The links between media development and spiritualist practices are the subject of research projects and exhibitions Media Mediums and Haunted by Algorithms with artist Jeff Guess.
After Erewhon and Virusland, two post-cybernetic fables co-produced with philosopher Pierre Cassou-Noguès, she published the book Planet B, an essay that blends investigation and fiction in order to apprehend a monster in full expansion.
She produced the video installation Chronicles of the Dark Sun in partnership with Observatoire de Paris for Prendre le soleil at Hangar Y.
In 2025, she published The pyromaniac images Theory-fiction of generative AI with Pierre Cassou-Noguès.
